9/19/2021 0 Comments How to Stop Internet AddictionThe main aim of such a thought document campaign on stopping Internet addiction is to assist the individuals who engage in such addiction. There is an estimated number of eight million individuals indulging in such addiction in the US alone, and the number is continuously increasing in the coming years. It is believed that one out of every four individuals using the Internet has an addiction of some sort. In such a scenario, the government has to step in and initiate such campaigns to reduce the incidence of addiction and the associated problems in society as a whole. Moreover, this will also make the individuals understand that they have a right to quit this addiction once and for all. It is true that when people understand the seriousness of the problem, they tend to quit even if it means that they are breaking the rules of society and the addiction is also being increased. So, why is the government spending an exorbitant amount of money on such awareness programs that ultimately prove to be ineffectual? First and foremost, the government has to understand that to stop internet addiction, the individual needs to be properly educated about the complications of this disorder. Most of the information regarding internet addiction includes the complications and dangers of carpal tunnel syndrome. Those suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome tend to spend most of their time sitting in front of the computer and if they indulge in activities such as gambling and Internet addiction, they increase the chances of contracting such a syndrome. However, the irony is that carpal tunnel syndrome is a very common ailment and is not at all serious. The person may suffer from pain in the hands and fingers or swelling in the hands and fingers. This will automatically result in lessening the individual's usage of the computer and eventually, he or she will stop internet use. But, in the meantime, they will be increasing the chances of contracting another form of sickness, which is much more serious and requires immediate medical attention. Hence, the government must come up with a plan to stop internet addiction before it becomes too late for the concerned individual. So how will the government go about tackling this problem? For starters, it is obvious that they will need to regulate the amount of money that can be spent on paying for online advertisements. This will help in reducing the amount of money that is spent on gambling, pornography, and other addictions. Since gambling, pornography and other related items are all forms of addictions, the government will need to make it mandatory for individuals to register and pay for such sites, to access them. This will help address the root causes of the problem and stop internet addiction at its initial stage. Another option on how to get over an internet addiction, which will reduce the amount of time online is by simply banning sites that are known to encourage gambling, pornography, and other forms of addictions. By banning these sites, the user will gradually reduce his or her time on the internet and will return to using more rational ways of using the medium. Since many countries have already taken this step, the government should also move in the direction of regulation. As such, it is obvious that eventually, stopping internet addiction will become easier with more governments following suit. Stop internet addiction starts with understanding the nature of the problem. In other words, one has to understand where the problem lies before actually being able to find a solution to it. For instance, it is widely accepted that internet addiction has roots in psychological problems, loneliness, and other social issues. Understanding the root causes of these factors is the first step towards curing the problem. Once this is understood, the person will be able to find a way out of the trap.
